Cherry Point Marines To Deploy Today

Five-dozen local marines are scheduled to fly out today for Afghanistan.

Cherry Point says more than 60 Marines with Marine Tactical Air Command Squadron 28 and Marine Air Control Squadron 2 will deploy today. The unit's mission while deployed is to provide responsive air support to the Second Marine Expeditionary Force in southwestern Afghanistan.

The picture you see is of the activation of the unit back in November.
