Chapel Hill Boy Attended Kids' State Dinner At White House

Children from around the country were invited to the White House Tuesday for the 2nd Annual Kids' State Dinner including a 12-year-old from Chapel Hill.

Children submitted recipes to for the Healthy Lunchtime Challenge which invited kids 8-12 years old to come up with an original lunch recipe that is healthy, affordable, and delicious.

54 winners and their guardians were selected to attend Tuesday's event.
They represent all 50 states, three territories, and the District of Columbia. 12-year-old Vijay Dey from Chapel Hill attended thanks to his spring rolls recipe. You can find it via the link below.

The challenge is an extension of first lady Michelle Obama's "Let's Move!" campaign to combat childhood obesity. President Barack Obama even made a surprise visit.

The contest received more than 1,300 recipes.
