The state says the Humane Society Shelter in Carteret County has two months to fix some major issues before its doors are forced closed.
This is not the first time the animal shelter has failed an inspection.
The Carteret County Humane Society animal shelter in Newport failed the state inspection back in mid-March as well as in February of 2011.
There are several issues that must be fixed, including three main problems. The state says cracks in the flooring as well as rusted fences and wood stands are not acceptable.
Carteret county manager Russell Overman says the shelter is working hard to meet the requirements so they are not forced to close come June 30th.
On May 18th volunteers can come out and help the shelter fix all the things that caused them to fail in the first place.
