DEPUTIES: Neighbor Spots Wanted Man On The News, Reports Him

Deputies said a neighbor recognized one man's face on the news, and reported him to authorities. Now the third and final suspect in an armed robbery of a car salesman is behind bars.

Pitt County deputies said Jesse Mitchell was found around midnight Tuesday night in Craven County after a neighbor who saw the man's mug shot on the news reported him to authorities.

On Tuesday, deputies said a man working at Reaves Auto Sales on Highway 11, between Grifton and Ayden, was approached by two men and a woman. Deputies said under the guise of looking at a mini-van for sale, the salesman was attacked with a punch to the face then threatened with a gun.

The trio took off with $100 in cash, but within hours after the crime, Luther Koonce and Julia Kelly were arrested . At the time, deputies said they were still looking for the third suspect, Mitchell, and he was to be considered armed and dangerous.

For now, deputies said Mitchell was being held in the Craven County jail. He is charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon, 2nd degree kidnapping, assault and battery with serious injury.

Two people have been charged with an armed robbery of a used car salesman Tuesday morning.

Pitt County deputies say Luther Koonce and Julia Kelly were arrested just before 6:00 p.m. They have identified a third person in the robbery, but that person is not yet in custody.

The armed robbery happened around 11:00 a.m. at Reaves Auto Sales on Highway 11, between Grifton and Ayden.

An employee says the salesman was behind the business, near a minivan, when three people in an SUV drove up.

The two men and a woman asked the salesman about the van, and at one point one of the men struck the worker in the mouth. The other man then pointed a gun at him, demanding money.

According to the employee, the salesman gave the robbers about $100 and they then drove off.
