CRAVEN COUNTY: New Bern Lifts State Of Emergency

New Bern lifted its state of emergency at 8:00 a.m. after Hurricane Arthur passed.

The city says rescue teams conducted a rapid assessment and found no major damage.

Craven County issued a state of emergency effective at 4:00 p.m. Thursday.

The county opened four shelters at 6:00 p.m.

* Ben D. Quinn Elementary School located at 4275 M. L. King, Jr. Blvd. (Pet Friendly)
* Brinson Memorial Elementary School located at 319 Neuse Forest Ave.
* Vanceboro Farm Life Elementary located at 2000 Farm Life Ave.
* Havelock High School located at 101 Webb Blvd.

Those who remained in their homes were told that emergency personnel may not be able to respond to distress calls during critical stages of the storm.
