USCG: 2 Teens Rescued From Navigation Marker After Boat Takes On Water In Currituck Sound

The Coast Guard says that 2 teenage boys were rescued from a navigation marker when their boat took on water in the Currituck Sound.

Watchstanders were contacted by Currituck County 911 around 8 a.m. Sunday morning, requesting a Coast Guard helicopter.

We’re told that an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter from Coast Guard Station Elizabeth City arrived on scene around 9 a.m. and found the teens had abandoned their boat and climbed up marker 99.

A helicopter crew lowered a swimmer, who then helped in hoisting the two teens into the helicopter, according to officials. The two teens were taken to Albemarle Hospital.
