Holiday travel is something many will be battling the next few days as they head out to see friends and family for Thanksgiving and the latest reports say travel will be up for this holiday weekend compared to last year.

Triple-A Carolinas says more than 1.2 million North Carolinians are expected to travel 50 miles or more from home, 11,000 more than last year.

Air travel has decreased from last year despite the drop in ticket prices. The number of travelers on the road is up by one-percent.

Triple-A Carolinas says gas prices are about 3 to 4 cents lower than last Thanksgiving.

The highest number of travelers, 45%, will depart on Wednesday and most will return on Sunday.
