Scattered showers will continue through the weekend. Rainfall totals will be significantly less than previous days, but an additional 1 to 2 inches will be possible. Joaquin will stay offshore, limiting its impact on Eastern Carolina.
High pressure just to our north will continue to feed a cool northeasterly wind across eastern Carolina on Saturday. Skies will be partly to mostly cloudy as afternoon highs reach the upper 60s to lower 70s. Most locations will struggle to surpass the 70° mark. Winds will blow from the northeast at 10 to 20 mph but will gust to 25 mph at times.
A cold front will approach eastern Carolina from the west by Sunday afternoon giving us a threat for some showers. More significant rain should arrive late Sunday night and continue into early next week. The wind will calm, but rain chances will increase Sunday.
