Police say an officer working off a hunch and some evidence put a car break-in suspect behind bars.

Greenville police say an officer spotted 19-year-old Derrick Jenkins Jr. around Frontgate Drive in the city. Police say it struck the officer odd that the teen was riding around with a backpack in an area where they've been investigating recent car break-ins.

Police say when the investigator interviewed Jenkins, he arrested him on the spot. Jenkins is facing four counts of breaking into cars, plus larceny charges. His bond is set at $34,000.
