Officials say that tests have come back and the water in one Duplin County town is now safe to drink.
Repairs were made over the weekend in Calypso to the water system and tests Monday said the water is okay to drink. Residents had been under a boil water advisory because of the water break, but that advisory has now been lifted.
A boil water advisory has been issued for a town in eastern Carolina.
Calypso Mayor Pro Tem Ann Howell says it’s her understanding that a state road work mistake, which resulted in a water main break, has prompted the advisory.
At one point, Howell said there was no water flow for residents inside and around the town.
She says that when water is back, residents should boil their water until told otherwise.
