Some Currituck County residents are asked to boil their water Thursday morning before using it.
The county water department said there was a water line break Thursday north of Corolla Village Road stretching to the North Beach Access Road Ramp.
Officials said there is a risk for contamination from cross-connections or back-siphonage in that area of the Southern Outer Banks Water System.
Those living nearby are urged to boil any water used for consumption or cleaning for at least one minute to kill any bacteria that may be present.
The advisory is scheduled to be lifted by 6:30 a.m. Friday.
Officials said there may also be low water pressure or discolored water for residents in the area.
