Billy Weaver Joins ECU Students For Ice Cold "Polar Bear Plunge"

The Outdoor temperature was around 31 degrees, the pool water was 45 degrees, but that didn't stop some adventure seekers from jumping in.

ECU held it's 18th annual "Polar Bear Plunge" Thursday night at the Student Recreation Center outdoor pool.

More than 1,000 jumpers took part, including WITN'S Billy Weaver, who jumped in live during WITN News at 6:00 p.m.

ECU Women's Basketball Coach Heather Macy also took the plunge.

The Polar Bear Plunge started at ECU in 1997 as part of the grand opening of the Student Recreation Center and 35 participants took the plunge.

The Polar Plunge is a way to help kick off the spring semester.
