A man in the east is locked up after Bethel Police say he stabbed a person.
Bethel Police say that they arrested 30-year-old Dietrich Purvis at his home Thursday morning.
Officials say they received a call around 2:30 a.m. From Vidant Edgecombe Hospital reporting a person in their emergency room with a stab wound to the arm. Police interviewed the victim who said that Purvis entered a home without permission and made threats to the people inside. Officials say Purvis then stabbed the victim.
Police say that Purvis has been charged with 1st degree burglary, resisting a public officer, assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, and communicating threats.
Purvis is being held in the Pitt County Detention Center under a $25,000 secured bond.
