Some lucky middle school students got to meet their favorite children's book author on Monday.
Sheila Turnage visited Ayden Middle School to talk about her award-winning book Three Times Lucky.
Each student read the book as part of their curriculum this year. They asked Turnage about the writing process that went into creating her popular crime drama.
Turnage, an ECU graduate, lives in Pitt County and says she hopes her stories encourage kids to read more.
"I want to read more books definitely," says 7th grader Joshua Starnes. "I want to read her second book, and the rest of her series because they were really good."
Each student received a signed copy of Turnage's new book, The Ghosts of Tupelo Landing.
