Belhaven Resident Faces 7 Drug Charges

The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office says a man who was growing marijuana in his home and selling it, has been arrested.

Investigators say 39-year-old Carlos Jayshawn Rome of Belhaven is charged with three counts of possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, manufacturing marijuana, trafficking in cocaine, maintaining a dwelling to keep and sell a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Investigators say they made purchases of marijuana from Rome, established surveillance on his home, and conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that left Rome's house and recovered a controlled substance.

While investigators were arresting Rome they could smell the odor of marijuana coming from inside the residence.

They found a marijuana indoor grow room that contained grow lights, fans, topsoil and fertilizer, 97 grams of marijuana, 25 grams of crack cocaine, 45 grams of powder cocaine and $4,005.00.

Rome was detained in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $100,000.00 secured bond.
