Beaufort County Principal Named Tops In The State

An Eastern Carolina principal has been named principal of the year in the state.

Dale Cole, principal of Chocowinity Middle School, was named the 2013 Wells Fargo North Carolina Principal of the Year in Cary this afternoon.

Cole is an ECU graduate and has served as a high school English teacher, football and baseball coach, a high school assistant principal and middle school principal.

He was selected from among eight regional finalists following interviews and on-site visits by a statewide selection committee.

Cole will receive $3,000 for his school and $3,000 for personal use, in addition to the $1,000 already awarded to both because he was a regional finalist.
