We have new information about the investigation into the death of Private First Class Keyonn Parkin in the hours after he was stabbed. The suspect left the scene of the crime but returned 45 minutes later.

According to the bond reduction order signed by the judge presiding over the first court appearance of suspect Christopher Brauer, 21 of Durham, Brauer left the scene where Parkin was stabbed at Pirates Place Townhomes but returned in less than an hour. He gave a statement to Greenville police and asked to return to Durham, which is where his parents live. The bond reduction order says Brauer was allowed to return to Durham if he agreed to return when requested by police.

Police announced Tuesday they were in contact with Brauer's legal representative and had expected him to turn himself in within hours of the 5 p.m. press conference. Brauer surrendered to authorities at approximately 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, funeral arrangements have been announced for Parkin, a native of Wichita, Kansas, stationed at Fort Bragg in Fayetteville. Services for the soldier are scheduled for Monday in Wichita.

Bond has been lowered for an ECU student suspected in the fatal stabbing of a Fort Bragg paratrooper.

Greenville police say around 10:30 a.m. Christopher Brauer, 21, and his lawyer showed up at the Pitt County Magistrate's Office.

Brauer faces an open count of murder for the stabbing death of 19-year-old Keyonn Parkin, a private first class. The Durham teen's bond was originally set at $1,000,000 but after a first appearance this afternoon before a judge it was lowered to $500,000.

Police say Parkin and some other friends were at a party of Pirates Place Townhomes Friday night. Chief William Anderson says the stabbing was over a stolen wallet. The chief says Parkin's friend, Robert Perry, allegedly took the wallet and was confronted by Brauer.

Anderson says during that confrontation, Parkin saw what was happening and stepped in to help his fellow soldier. He says Parkin and Brauer got into a verbal argument and then Brauer stabbed the man.

Greenville police say warrants have been obtained for an ECU student today for the death of a Fort Bragg paratrooper.

Chief William Anderson says Christopher Brauer of Durham will be charged with murder.

The 19-year-old Brauer is not in custody and Anderson says they expect the man to turn himself in to police later tonight.

Anderson says the stabbing was over a stolen wallet at the party. The chief says Parkin's friend, Robert Perry, allegedly took the wallet and was confronted by Brauer.

Anderson says during that confrontation, Parkin saw what was happening and stepped in to help his fellow soldier. He says Parkin and Brauer got into a verbal argument and then Brauer stabbed the man.

Police say Perry is also going to be charged with misdemeanor larceny for the theft of the wallet.

The murder weapon has been recovered.

Greenville police plan to give their first public comments later this afternoon about the death of a Fort Bragg paratrooper.

PFC Keyonn Parkin was stabbed late Friday night during a party at Pirates Place Townhomes on Charles Boulevard.

Friends say the 19-year-old from Wichita, Kansas was in Greenville Friday night for a birthday celebration.

Police have been extremely tight-lipped about Parkin's death. They plan to discuss the death investigation during a 5:00 p.m. news conference.

A paratrooper from Fort Bragg is dead after a weekend stabbing in Greenville.

WITN News has learned that PFC Keyonn Parkin was stabbed late Friday night during a party at Pirates Place Townhomes on Charles Boulevard.

A Greenville police report says the 19-year-old soldier was stabbed shortly after midnight. The Medical Examiner's Office says an autopsy was performed this afternoon, but referred all questions to police.

Fort Bragg says Parkin was a member of the 82 Airborne and was from Wichita, Kansas. The Army says Parkin joined in July 2010 and came to Fort Bragg in December.

Robert Perry, who was charged with simple assault, says Parkin, himself and two others came to Greenville to celebrate a girl's birthday and ended up at Pirates Place.

Perry says the night was winding down and victim left ahead of them. The man told WITN News he went back in to find his missing wallet and as he was walking back to the apartment he saw a group of people surrounding Parkin, who was stabbed. As he was trying to move people away, Perry says he punched one of the party-goers in the face. That's when Perry says he was charged with assault.

Perry is also a soldier at Fort Bragg.

Greenville police would not release any information on the stabbing or if they had any suspects in the case.
