Deputies say they have made two arrests in Sunday night's shooting that wounded a Pitt County man.
Johnta Barnhill-Sherrod and Cornelious Keyes have been charged with attempted first degree murder.
Both are being held on $1 million secured bonds.
The victim, Don Lawrence, was shot in the back, and that the bullet passed through his shoulder. Family at the scene say the man is doing okay at Vidant Medical Center.
Officials say they believe the shooting stemmed from some sort of dispute involving a girl.
Pitt County Sheriff Neil Elks says that they are searching for possibly 4 suspects involved in the shooting of a man late Sunday night.
Officials say deputies got the call to 422 Pam Drive around 10:30 for a person shot. Investigators say that a group of people got into an argument in the street and that's when shots rang out.
Sheriff Elks says that the man was shot in the back, and that the bullet passed through his shoulder. Family at the scene say the man is doing okay at Vidant Medical Center.
Sheriff Elks believes they are searching for 4 possible suspects, 2 of which are believed to be the shooters. Elks says that based on their preliminary investigation, the two suspects passed the same small caliber handgun back and forth while shooting.
Sheriff Elks says that at some point a white truck showed up to the scene and rammed a vehicle in the street.
Officials say that they have reason to believe the shooting stemmed from some sort of domestic situation involving a girl.
The suspects are believed to have ran north on Pam Drive, and were picked up by a vehicle.
Sheriff Elks says that residents in the area have been hesitant about cooperating with the investigation.
Pitt County Sheriff's deputies have responded to the scene of a person shot.
Spokeswoman Christy Wallace says that it happened around 10:30 this evening at 422 Pam Drive.
Wallace says that a group of people got into an argument, and as one person tried to run away, they were shot in the back.
That person has been transported to Vidant Medical Center.
No word yet on any arrests.
