Stabbing At Washington Rec Center Sends Man To Hospital

Washington Police say about 5:40 Saturday night officers and EMS responded to Bobby Andrews Recreation Center on East 7th Street for a fight between adults. Witnesses tell WITN the fight happened while children were playing a basketball game at the rec center.

Police say 2 men engaged in an altercation that resulted in one person being taken to Vidant Beaufort Hospital for several cuts to the arm. 35-year-old Kofi Rodgers of Washington was arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury. Rodgers was placed in the Beaufort County Detention Center with a $5,000 bond.

The recreation center was closed for the night following the incident. Additional charges are pending.
