UPDATE: Arrests Made At Mobile Home Prior To Fire

There's new information on the destructive fire WITN told you about first yesterday morning. Two people were arrested at the Lenoir County home before a fire destroyed it Thursday morning. Now, the SBI is involved with the investigation.

We reported yesterday that no one was home when a mobile home on Levi Lane in the Jackson Heights area of Lenoir County caught fire at 2:30 a.m. That's because the people who live there had just been arrested after a domestic violence call, according to the Kinston Free Press.

Michelle Small, 43, and James Fanning, 42, were arrested early Thursday morning, but online records say the two are out of custody.

Previous Story

The State Bureau of Investigation is looking into a fire this morning that destroyed a double wide mobile home.

Three fire departments were called to Levi Drive in the Jackson Heights area of Lenoir County around 2:30 a.m. Thursday. When the first crews arrived, officials say the mobile home was 50%-75% involved. The fire destroyed the trailer.

Officials on the scene told WITN that Sandy Bottom, Southwood and Deep Run fire departments responded to the fire.

No injuries were reported, and fire crews say no one was inside the fire when it started. Officials say there is no word yet on what started the blaze.

The fire was under control shortly after 3 a.m.
