UPDATE: Greenville Fire Department Labels Apartment Fire Suspicious

The Greenville Fire Department says that a fire that displaced several this morning appears suspicious.

Multiple fire crews responded to Ridge Place in Greenville for an apartment fire around 7:30 a.m. Wednesday. Officials say that the unit on fire, which is believed to have started in the back bedroom, has significant damage. Surrounding apartments are said to have taken on smoke damage.

The American Red Cross says that it is working with four adults and two children that were left without a home by the fire.

Fire Officials say that there were no injuries.

The investigation is ongoing into the suspicious nature of the fire.

Greenville dispatchers tell WITN that multiple fire crews were sent to Ridge Place in Greenville for an apartment fire around 7:30AM on Wednesday. By 8:20AM, the fire was contained, according to one firefighter on scene.

WITN's photographer on the scene said at least four fire trucks and two ambulances were at the Ridgewood Condominiums. Neighbors said they never saw any active flames at the residence where crews are working.

One firefighter said no one was injured in the fire, which began in the back bedroom of one of the units on Ridge Place.
