The Highway Patrol has identified two drivers that were killed Friday afternoon in an Onslow County accident.
Troopers say that 42-year-old Sherry Ellis of Rocky Mount, and 73-year-old Edward Johnson of Franklin, Virginia were killed following an accident on Highway 258, north of Richlands around 2:40 p.m.
Officials say that Ellis crossed the center line in her KIA SUV and collided head on with Johnson who was driving a Ford SUV. 42-year-old Bobbie Jo Bateman of Rock Mount, a passenger in the KIA, was critically injured in the accident and airlifted to New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington.
Highway Patrol Trooper R.W. West says that speed was not a factor in the accident. West says that according to witnesses, Ellis appeared to be driving impatiently before the accident.
