Bridgeton Mayor Pro Tem Pistol Whipped During Salon Robbery

The mayor pro tem of Bridgeton was pistol whipped during a robbery last night at his business.

Charles Freeman says three men came into the 901 Salon on D Street around 11:00 p.m. He says he normally keeps the doors locked at that hour, but did not last night.

Freeman says one man came in asking for directions, while two others then burst through the door. He says one of the robbers kicked his dog, so he got mad and started to fight back. That's when he was hit in the head with a gun.

The mayor pro tem says the robbers got away with his wallet and cash.

Police say two of the robbers were armed, and all three took off in what is believed to be a Chevy HHR, gray in color. Freeman was treated at the scene for his injuries.

We're gathering details on an armed robbery at a salon in the Craven County town of Bridgeton overnight.

Bridgeton Police Lt. Rick Barney says around 11:00 p.m. last night, three men forced their way into the 901 Salon on D Street. Lt. Barney says the suspects assaulted the salon owner and stole unknown medications from him.

Police say two of the suspects were armed, and all three took off in what is believed to be a Chevy HHR, gray in color. The salon owner was treated at the scene for his injuries.
