BCCC Police Chief Retires

A long time law enforcement officer and familiar face on college campuses in the east is calling it a career.

Chief Hal Swindell has announced that he's retiring from the Beaufort County Community College Police Department after a 30-year career.

Swindell worked for the ECU Police Department for 11-years before taking the chief's position at Beaufort County Community College in 1994.

Swindell says he doesn't have any immediate plans other than traveling, but looks forward to new opportunities in the future.

Officer Ernie Coleman, a retired State Trooper and current officer at the college, will serve as interim chief until Swindell's replacement is named.
