Police say they are looking for a "person of interest" in the shooting of a woman this weekend in one Pitt County town.
Ayden Police Chief Barry Stanley says Porsha Carmon of Greenville was shot just below the chest Saturday night. The shooting happened around 9:30 p.m. on New Street during a birthday party.
The 24-year-old victim is now in good condition at Vidant Medical Center.
Police still believe Carmon was not the intended target in the shooting.

He says police received the call close to 9:30 p.m. about a 21-year-old female being shot once between the chest and abdomen.
The woman was a part of a birthday party celebration taking place on New Street when she was shot, but Stanley says she was not targeted.
Police have interviewed 3 people so far and have identified a person of interest that has yet to be interviewed.
As for the victim's condition, Stanley says she was able to talk, but will have to have surgery Sunday.
At least one person has been shot in Ayden, according to Police Chief Barry Stanley.

Stanley says they are in the very early stages of an investigation and are actively searching for a suspect.
