Autopsy: Pitt County Baby Died From Non-Accidental Head Injury

The autopsy results for a five-month-old Pitt County baby who died last summer have been released.

The medical examiner's office says that 5-month-old Ayden Wayne Brooks died of a non-accidental head injury.

Ayden died in July after his father, Johnathan Brooks, seen in the picture with Ayden, called 911 saying the baby was unresponsive.

The baby spent the night at Vidant Medical Center, but was taken off life support the following day.

Brooks, who is a former detention center officer in Montgomery County, was arrested and charged with his son's death.

Pitt County Sheriff Neil Elks says the baby was in the care of Brooks when he suffered the head injury.
