A town councilman for one coastal town has died.
Atlantic Beach Mayor Trace Cooper says 68-year-old Rick Poillon was found dead at his home Friday.
Mayor Cooper says that police believe his death to be from natural causes.
Poillon was elected to the council this past October and has lived in Atlantic Beach for the past 5 years.
Cooper says that Poillon’s death is a tough loss, and says that he brought a lot of energy to the council.
Cooper says that prior to retirement, Poillon was the president and CEO for Pepsi Bottling Ventures of Raleigh.
Cooper says that the town council will appoint a replacement.
