Art Auction To Benefit Onslow County School Kids

The Onslow County School system is planning an art auction to raise money for kids in the area without a stable home, but they need the help of area artists.

Jennifer Colley is a school social worker and says, "There has been a significant rise in the homeless population of students in our area, specifically families and children and the working poor. When students come to school and don't have the stability of a home it has a significant impact on their academics and their ability to learn and focus on their education."

If you are an artist and want to help, get your paint brushes or clay out and make something that represents hope.

The deadline is February 15th and you can drop off your piece at the Jacksonville United Way.

The art auction will be March 1st and 2nd at the USO in Jacksonville.

So far Onslow County Schools has received a grant for $45,000 to help find a permanent home for kids, but in order to be able to use it, they need to raise money to help sustain the program.
