Another college in the east says it has been awarded a grant to introduce Muslim culture, the same grant an eastern carolina congressman said a community college should not accept.

Pearsall Library at North Carolina Wesleyan College in partnership with Braswell Memorial Library both in Rocky Mount, has been awarded a grant that will help students and community members learn more about Muslims. Sponsored by the National Endowment for the Humanities, Bridging Cultures Initiative and The American Library Association, the grant will provide the Muslim Journeys Bookshelf, which includes a collection of books, films, and other resources.

It was just last month 3rd District republican congressman Walter Jones said Craven Community College should not accept the grant , and that he was appalled that a federal agency like NEH is wasting taxpayer money on programs like this. 840 libraries and state humanities councils across the country received the grant, including 7 in North Carolina.
