Another Asian Restaurant Owner Victim Of Home Invasion Robbery

There has been another home invasion robbery of a family that owns an Asian restaurant here in Eastern Carolina.

New Bern police say the latest case happened around 10:40 p.m. Friday at a mobile home park off Neuse Boulevard. The father, mother and son were coming home from work when two gunmen walked up behind them and robbed the family of their cash and cell phone.

The family operates the Chinese Express on Neuse Boulevard.

Gary Li tells WITN News that the gunmen covered his mom's mouth and put a gun to her back. Not only did the robbers get away with several hundred dollars, but they also took personal information like passports, citizenship papers and Social Security cards, according to the 13-year-old.

Li says the family now wants to move.

Police are checking to see if this robbery is related to a rash of similar ones that have happened in multiple counties since the first of the year.

So far more than 20 such robberies have occurred.

Just last week the SBI announced an $8,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest and conviction in the cases.
