Another Arrest In Greenville Murder Case

Another person has been charged in connection with the murder of a Greenville man just two days into the new year.

Demetrius Smith was arrested by Greenville police on Friday on a charge of robbery with a dangerous weapon.

The arrest warrant says the 19-year-old Smith robbed Anthony Johnson on January 2nd before the man was murdered.

Johnson was gunned down that same day outside a home on Westridge Drive. Days after the murder police charged 16-year-old Jahrheel May with armed robbery and murder.

Smith's warrant says he was armed with a .40 caliber semi-automatic handgun and threatened to use it during the robbery of Johnson. It says an unknown amount of cash and marijuana were taken in the holdup.

Smith is jailed on a $200.000 bond. May also remains behind bars on the murder charge awaiting trial.
