Officers from all over the state are in the east training on how to react when a shooter steps on a college campus.
East Carolina University is hosting this week long advanced law enforcement rapid response training.
They're focused on what to do if a shooting takes place on campus.
Lt. Chris Sutton says the training is crucial since they need to be prepared for every scenario. Sutton says, "They are put through different scenarios where they have to confront threats and work through these scenarios. They have to put these tactics that they're being trained on to use."
On Thursday, officers performed an active shooting drill on campus at Tyler Hall.
