A lawsuit against a New Bern television station and its chief meteorologist has been dismissed.
Last summer John Lero sued Skip Waters and WCTI-TV claiming the meteorologist bought the man drugs, had sex with him and showed him pornography when he was 16-years-old.
Superior Court Judge Rusty Duke says Lero's lawyer dismissed the suit. The clerks office says it was dismissed on June 22nd. Neither Lero's attorney, nor Waters' lawyer will comment about why the lawsuit was dismissed. Judge Duke says he wouldn't have any idea what happens behind closed doors after a civil suit is dismissed.
Waters denied the allegations in the lawsuit after it was filed and WCTI unsuccessfully tried to have itself removed from the lawsuit. At the time, Lero's attorney called Waters the "face of the station" and said WCTI is a news organization and should know what's going on in the community.
The television station had no comment on the latest developments.
