Tennessee state transportation officials say westbound Interstate 40 at the I-81 split could be closed for hours after a crash involving two tractor-trailer rigs.
The crash was reported shortly after 6 a.m. The accident scene is about 25 miles west of the Tennessee-North Carolina state line.
No one was seriously hurt, but the incident left one truck jackknifed and the other lying on its side, leaking diesel fuel.
The cargoes were aluminum foil and paper.
Westbound traffic is being diverted onto I-26 at Asheville and up to I-81 in Johnson City.
