Lawmen Investigated in Pasquotank County

A district attorney is asking for an investigation into allegations of misconduct by law enforcement officers for Elizabeth City and Pasquotank County.

Each department is already conducting its own internal review of
the allegations.

At issue is whether Elizabeth City Police Sergeant John Young
and Sheriff's Deputy Joe Tade applied unnecessary force when one
them apprehended and handcuffed a 14-year-old accused of stealing
another officer's child's football.

Local N-A-A-C-P President Raymond Rivers says one of the
officers "body-slammed" the youth during the incident.

District Attorney Frank Parrish says the Pasquotank County
N-A-A-C-P filed a complaint on behalf of Gary and Teresa Mallory,
the parents of the youth who was handcuffed.
