Reports show new home sales rebounded in a big way last month from the record low the previous month.
New home sales are up more than 23 percent nationally even though the June sales pace was its weakest since the inception of the commerce department.
There's also been an uptick in home sales in Craven County as well -- and a lot can be attributed to the massive amount of inventory on the ground and still in the works.
Home sales in Craven County are up more than 30 percent from May and around 12 percent from last year.
Realtors say many of these homes are new homes purchased by first-time home buyers.
Realtors say while new homes sales are up, foreclosures have gone up almost 45 percent since January.
