Grant Money to Help School Kids

One Pitt County elementary school is reaching new milestones.

For the first time ever, A Pitt County school received the 21st Century Community Learning Centers grant. The fortunate school is Northwest Elementary.

The $149,000 the school will get over the next four years will help keep kids off the street with an after school program aimed at doing homework, and one-on-one tutoring.

The program is designed for kids who are not up to state proficiency levels.
