Wednesday, the Dare County Emergency Management office fielded a constant stream of requests for re-entry permits. They're the passes needed to get back onto the islands when the area is evacuated.

A new policy this year is hotel employees are joining utility workers, government officials and medical staff as essential personnel, and are being given top priority re-entry passes.

There's absolutely no talk of evacuations among emergency management personnel, who are maintaining a close watch on Hurricane Frances.
