Two Teens Charged In The Death Of A Homeless Man

Two teenagers have been charged in the stabbing death of a homeless man in Gastonia.

Police say they expect to make more arrests in the death of 49-year-old Royce Dean Mathis. Authorities say Mathis slept in a building next to an auto repair shop.

Investigators are trying to figure out of the attack was gang-related.

Police say 18-year-old Jamond Rashad Burney has been in the Gaston County jail since Monday. Police arrested a 15-year-old boy on Thursday. The boy's name hasn't been released yet, but Gaston District Attorney Locke Bell says he plans to ask a judge to try him as an adult.

Mathis was found dead June 26th after he had told co-workers he was walking to a convenience store to get dinner.
