With the sweet smell of summer in the air, folks were reaching for their favorite summertime treat at the 2004 Winterville Watermelon Festival in Pitt County Saturday.
The main attraction was of course the watermelons, and they were working there magic, bringing people by the dozen to get a slice of the free festival fruit! There were also games, music, rides and thrills as thousands made there way to the event.
Saturday night's headliner band "Lonestar"', a country music group gave a concert at the A. G. Cox Athletic Complex.
