Western Carolina farmers may be out of luck if they're looking to the east for help with a hay shortage.
Beaufort County farmhand Nick Debnam says his boss's hay farm is dealing with a similar problem. A severe drought across eastern North Carolina has led to less than half of a normal crop for Debnam and his farm owner.
Debnam says as much as they would like to help western farmers, conditions make it nearly impossible to do so.
