Federal officials have threatened to withhold funding for a state mental hospital.
The move comes after officials cut off reimbursements at another
facility following reviews of patient treatment.
An official says the state received a notice this week that a federal agency was considering a fund cut-off for Cherry Hospital in Goldsboro.
The state is working to correct problems. An investigation found
that one patient escaped, another was improperly handcuffed and
another didn't get needed oxygen.
The agency last month said it would cut off funds to Broughton Hospital at Morganton after an investigation of patient treatment. That probe found a patient died while being restrained.
