Officials with the play "The Lost Colony" on Roanoke Island say production will continue, despite a fire that destroyed three building and many costumes.
Producer Carl Curnutte says the show will go on.
A fire early yesterday morning destroyed three building and hundreds of costumes. Curnutte says including the shoes, hats, gloves, jewelry and other items, the production might have lost as many as 60,000 items.
The waterfront theater itself was not damaged.
Among the items destroyed, a sword used by Andy Griffith when he
was a young actor in the show.
Some costumes were at the dry cleaners. Others are at museums, including the Queen Elizabeth I dress worn last season by Lynn Redgrave.
There were no injuries. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
