Eastern Carolina Remembers 9-11

Governor Mike Easley has ordered all flags at state facilities lowered to half staff Tuesday to honor the victims and survivors of the September 11th, 2001 terrorist attacks.

There are many remembrances planned around eastern Carolina. A freedom walk will take place at the elementary school at Camp Lejeune from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m.

Onslow civil affairs holds a ceremony near Camp Johnson beginning at 8:15 a.m.

A tribute is set for 8 a.m. at the Carteret County courthouse courtyard in memory of all emergency services worked who died on 9-11.

And the Woodmen of the World will hold an honor and remembrance ceremony at the Kinston Lenoir County visitor's and information center on Highway 70 beginning at 9:00 a.m.
