Operation "Buckle-Up"

Buckling up can mean the difference between life and death. It can also mean the difference in whether you get a ticket or not.

State troopers started a crackdown Monday for people not wearing a seatbelt. Over the next two weeks, highway patrol will conduct operation "Buckle-Up" 2007. Troopers hope the new enforcement will raise statewide seatbelt use from 89 percent to more than 90 percent.

Operation "Buckle-Up" 2007 will end on September 23. Troopers hope the enforcement project will reduce highway fatalities. The fine for not buckling up is $50.00 a violation.
