National Park Service Closing Visitors Center

The National Park Service will close all of its visitors centers in advance of Tropical Storm Gabrielle.

The grounds at Wright Brothers National Memorial will remain open, as
weather permits; however, the Visitor Center will be closed. The Fort
Raleigh National Historic Site Visitor Center closes at noon today.

As of this morning, the National Weather Service is predicting that Outer
Banks Group park units will experience the effects of the storm beginning in the early afternoon, with strengthening winds, predicted to increase to 50 mph, with gusts up to 60 mph, possible ocean overwash and flooding of roadways, and potentially
severe thunderstorms continuing into Monday.

Ocracoke, Frisco, and Oregon Inlet campground remain closed. These
campgrounds and visitor centers will reopen after the storm passes and any damage is repaired. Cape Point campground has already closed for the season.
