The interim Durham County district attorney is asking Attorney General Roy Cooper's office to determine if any criminal charges should come from the handling of the Duke lacrosse rape case.
Cooper's spokeswoman, Noelle Talley, has confirmed that the office received the request and is reviewing it.
The investigation would cover anyone who acted "under the color of law enforcement" during the investigation.
Cooper dismissed all charges and declared the three lacrosse players innocent earlier this year. Former Durham County DA Mike Nifong was disbarred for his handling of the case and will head to jail tomorrow after a judge found him in criminal contempt of court.
