Authorities say around 8PM Thursday the body of 20-year-old Marcus Dove was recovered.
Divers and sonar were used to find Dove.
Rescue crews in Lenoir County have spent the second day searching for a missing rafter.
The man, who is his late teens to early 20's, disappeared Wednesday afternoon in Fountain Hill Lake. The lake is in a subdivision off Skeeter Pond Road, west of Grifton.
Authorities say the young man went to go visit two friends who were fishing on the lake around 3:00 p.m. They say when the storm rolled through the young man went into the water and he tried to swim to a raft, but never made it back to land.
Major Chris Hill says they have notified the man's family, but are not releasing his name until the body is recovered.
Thursday the Sidney Dive Team, and a Highway Patrol helicopter helped with the search. Authorities say they plan to continue the search into Thursday night.
Fountain Hill Lake is about 50 acres in size, and reportedly is 30 feet deep in some spots.
Lenoir County deputies are at the scene of a drowning.
The first reports came in around 3:30 p.m. to a lake in the Fountain Hill subdivision, that's off Skeeter Pond Road outside of Grifton.
Captain Jim Oldenburg says the sheriff's department is conducting what he called an open death investigation. Several volunteer fire departments and rescue crews are at the scene right now.
WITN's Dave Marcheskie says divers showed up at the scene around 5:00 p.m.
