Arrest Made In Deadly Home Invasion

An arrest has been made in a home invasion this morning where one of the intruders was killed by the homeowner.

Wayne County deputies have charged Kayloe Middleton with first degree burglary & first degree kidnapping. He was arrested around 5 pm today. Middleton is from Mount Olive.

Detectives say three men broke down the front door at
2546 Old Mount Olive Highway around 12:30 a.m. A family of six was asleep inside at the time.

Lawmen say the three intruders held the two parents and their four kids, ages 4, 5, and 8, at gunpoint while they ransacked the house.

When one intruder started firing, one of the people in the home was able to get their own gun and shoot at the intruders. One of the intruders was shot and killed in the house.

Deputies say that intruder has been identified as 19 year old Antione Chestnut of Dudley. Chestnut died of multiple gunshot wounds and an autopsy is being performed.

The investigation is continuing. Detectives are still looking for information on a third suspect in the home invasion. Anyone with information concerning this crime is asked to call the Wayne County Sheriffs Office at (919) 731-1482 or Crimestoppers at (919) 735-2255.
