Senator Basnight's Restaurant Reopens Four Months After Fire

Lone Cedar Café

State senator Marc Basnight has reopened his family restaurant, The Lone Cedar Cafe, just four months after a fire leveled the building on the Outer Banks.

The State Bureau of Investigation has not completed its probe into the fire. Basnight said the blaze temporarily put about 100 employees out of work.

Customers took seats at new tables and booths on Wednesday while
workers put the final touches on the building between Manteo and Nags Head.

The contractor working on the restaurant has said a building of that size usually takes about a year to rebuild, but residents pulled together to help the Basnight family.
